Streetcar lines and high voltage screen the two beautiful ancient towers - only ones left of the proud fortification that surrounded the City of Bologna, including many towers.
The Pope had decided that Bologna - of his possessions - was too strong, too fortified, and too proud - hence sent his 'troops' to punish the city's haughtiness and to destroy most of the towers/fortifications
